Join BOMA West Michigan and IREM West Michigan Chapter 62 (Institute of Real Estate Managementfor an Active Shooter Scenario Training. Network with industry peers, enjoy breakfast and experience a full training tutorial from Jason Russell. Walk away from this event with the following:

  • A table of contents for an emergency plan.
  • A sample active shooter plan.
  • Practical tips on how organizations can better prepare themselves and their staff to deal with an active violence situation. 
  • Suggestions for removing barriers to emergency preparedness.
  • Training regarding threat assessment and how the human body/brain processes emergencies and stress. Tips on mitigating these responses.
  • Exposure to the comprehensive approach to emergency preparedness used by high level security experts like the US Secret Service including: On-Site Assessments (to determine any gaps or weaknesses in physical security or policy and procedures related to safety and security), Emergency Planning and Critical Incident Training.

Jason Russell, President and CEO Secure Education Consultants


Jason is the founder of Secure Education Consultants, LLC (SEC) and is its President and Chief Executive Officer.  He is responsible for overseeing all company operations, product development, and quality assurance.


Prior to SEC, Jason served with the United States Secret Service as a Special Agent. During his tenure, Jason was involved in protective and investigative assignments as well as protecting the current President and Vice President along with all living former Presidents. In addition to protection assignments, Jason served as the Secret Service Lead Instructor at the International Law Enforcement Academy, a Physical Fitness Coordinator, and on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.


Jason has extensive law enforcement experience with the Lansing Police Department (LPD). While with the LPD, Jason was recognized with a life saving award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving. In 2010, Jason accepted a position with the Office of the Inspector General where he investigates governmental waste and fraud.


Jason additionally has taught criminal investigation and security courses as an adjunct professor.


Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jason holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Michigan University and his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Security Management from Michigan State University. He is married with three children and lives in Michigan.
